King Rocky, famous Drum horse stallion posing after his winnings! :-) This is a fabulous horse, kind, sweet, dignified talented and way way beyond willing! Was truly and honor meeting him.
The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears. ~Arabian Proverb ~Photographing horses is a joy I cannot describe. I could spend every waking hour just clicking away whilst they are oblivious to my enthusiasm for their seemingly mundane excursions...but every now and then I believe they know that they are being admired and they grant me a glimpse of something really special. These are the moments that steal my breath away... I have branched out to other subjects but horses will always be my first, best destiny. I started out like most people, snapping photos of this and that, hoping to catch something mildly interesting and at the very least in focus! The good...

I was born loving horses and so glad I found your images, Fran. They are superb and this one tells a story between this gorgeous animal and his rider. To bond with a horse, there is nothing like it. Perfectly seen and presented, F/L!!
Fran J Scott replied:
Sandi I really appreciate your thoughts on this piece. I can tell you have been smitten by the majesty of these wonderful creatures. Once you've been lucky enough to have bonded with one their magic stays with you always. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for the compliments...they mean a great deal to me. :-)

Thak you so much for taking the time to explain. There is so much I don't know.
Fran J Scott
Marie, I'm sure most people have not heard of the Drum Horse so don't feel bad! LOL "Drum horses" are actually named after a job they perform. They are an indespensable part of the Band of Life Guards. These horse carried two large, solid silver kettle drums plus a fully outfitted rider through crowds of thousands during the Queen's processions. The most extrordinary part is that these horses were controlled entirely by reins attached to the riders stirrups as they had to use their hands to beat the drums. Nearly always Pinto or Sabino in color but it is still common to see a solid today. Only geldings were used for the ceremonies but I'm told that a mare has been accepted recently.I can honestly say of those I have met personally that they are the most dignified, and special horses that you will find.
Marie Bulger
Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "drum" horse other than gorgeous?
Fran J Scott
Thank you Angela! ~He is one of my favorite Drum horses. :-)
